Who: Young professional men and women who want to serve the local Church.
When:  Holy Saturday, March 30th, 2013
What: Mission Day, a response to the Holy Father’s request that we “Share the Good News in this Year of Faith”
 

Missionary Activities

  • In this year of Faith, we will do our part in reaching out to the Local Community to invite them to partake in the Sacraments and the Liturgical Celebrations at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on behalf of Fr. Rudy Garcia, the rector of  the cathedral.
  • Participate in the Holy Saturday Easter Vigil at the Cathedral as a witness to the community.
  • Service work at the cathedral
  • Daily training session for door-to door evangelization

Cost: $20, accepting registrations until March 22.  
(Includes dinner, T-shirt, Cross, other supplies)

Transportation to and from the Cathedral is the responsibility of the participant.  Mission visits will either be within walking distance of the parish, or transportation to more distant neighborhoods will be provided by Mission volunteer drivers. You are asked to sign a transportation waiver for this.

2pm  - Arrival at the Cathedral , sign in, and receive your Missionary t-shirt and cross
2:30 – Mission training “How-to Session”:  Instructions for how to invite people to the parish for liturgies and confession. You will also receive materials with the Mass and confession times offered at the Cathedral, so you can hand these out to the people on your visits.
3:00pm – We'll divide up into small groups and head to the surrounding neighborhoods. With a joyful spirit, we will knock on doors and invite people to the Easter Masses and confessions at the cathedral. Some participants may be asked to stay to do service work at the Cathedral.
6:30pm – All groups return to the Cathedral for Dinner
7:00 pm – Dinner and Sharing
8:15pm – Move to the Church for the Vigil Mass, to reserved seating for the missionaries
8:30pm – Holy Saturday Vigil Mass: Celebrant; Bishop Kevin Farrell and concelebrant;  Fr. Rudy Garcia.
10:30pm - end of mission

On Easter Sunday, March 31st, there will be a Closing Mass at 10:30am for all who participated in Missions and their families at The Highlands School. (1451 E. Northgate Dr. Irving, TX, 75062) See you there!
